Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Specialty Application Support Engineer (Senior Specialty Systems Operations Engineer) in Technology as part of Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology (CCIBT), Platform Strategy and Transformation group. This exciting role in CCIBT falls in our Platform Management team where the selected seasoned engineer will analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues in a highly visible distributed middleware platform based in Java, J2EE and .NET. This team supports applications hosted in a wide variety of technology stacks, including Azure, PCF, Kubernetes, Virtual Machines, and Citrix systems.
As a member of the team, you will partner with teams, vendors, internal and external business partners to evaluate and recommend enhancements or changes to existing processes to support the ever changing technology environment. Including supporting Internal and external hosted applications providing support to 73k internal users, 18k external users and 1.4k external clients in North America, APAC and EMEA regions.
In this role, you will:
- Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure, moderately complex application upgrades and vulnerability remediation efforts, within the Systems Operations functional area
- Lead team to meet moderately complex technical deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards
- Act independently as a liaison for the line of business in support of daily inquiries, problem and incident management, project delivery, and escalations by following established guidebooks
- Liaise with functional or operational managers to understand their current and future information needs and develop plans and schedules for integrating these needs into existing operations
- Recommend solutions to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability by automating platform activities to lower human intervention time on related tasks
- Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
- Facilitate discussions on preventative action, root cause analysis and resolutions with service management
- Collaborate and consult with peers, mid-level managers, vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability and reliability
- Provide training and mentoring to lower experienced team members on guidebook changes and lead team to meet technical deliverables, while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards
- Collaborate with development teams to update business continuity plans and provide input on development of new and existing support guidebooks
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of systems engineering or technology architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of experience providing monitoring tools support for applications built on JAVA or .NET platforms
- 3+ years of application production support experience
- 2+ years of AppDynamic experience
- 1+ year of Splunk experience
- 1+ year of Autosys experience
Desired Qualifications:
- 1+ year of operations environment experience
- 1+ year of risk and regulatory compliance experience
- 1+ year of Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) experience
- Ability to interact with all levels of an organization; including management and internal customers
- Knowledge and understanding of system monitoring and automation
- Knowledge and understanding of network automation development through scripting
- Ability to take an active role in the education, mentoring and training team members
- Experience with Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTP, IBM Liberty and or WAS, WebLogic, or other similar products on UNIX and or Linux OS
- Experience with monitoring tools to solve and prevent application issues
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Leading and resolving major incidents
Job Expectations:
- Ability to work on call as assigned
- Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment, including weekends and holidays
- Flexibility to adjust work schedule in accordance to the time zone for the market you are supporting - for US teams, the working hours range from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm local time, sometimes due to resource constraints (ex: PTO or Holiday adjustments)
