Greenway Arts Alliance is a community-based partnership of professional artists working in Los Angeles since 1997. Greenway Arts Alliance was founded by professional artists committed to forging a deep connection with the surrounding area including the public school community.

Since its inception, Greenway Arts Alliance has modeled an innovative partnership with the Fairfax High School campus to leverage community resources that connect the professional artistic and public education communities around a commitment to learning and creation in the arts. Greenway Institute for the Arts offers free in-school and after-school multi-disciplinary arts and leadership programs for Fairfax High and LAUSD students.

The Student Programs Coordinator is integral for promoting a culture of holistic learning by assisting with the development and management of Greenway Institute for the Arts, Melrose Trading Post student workforce, student leadership development, and student volunteer programs, primarily associated with Fairfax High School through Greenway Institute for the Arts. Schedule is Sunday-Thursday 10am-6:30pm.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with student outreach: coordinate recruitment and outreach efforts, co-plan and execute special events, assist with departmental social media planning and execution
  • Support after-school arts programming and teaching artists
  • Coordinate GreenwayREADS literacy program: schedule participating classrooms, organize food and transportation for student matinees, support teaching artists in the classroom
  • Coordinate Arts Circle: schedule participating classrooms, support teaching artists in the classroom, facilitate and maintain a relationship with Fairfax High School’s psychiatric social worker
  • Support scheduling and management of GIA’s Arts Integration Intern
  • Support scheduling and communicating with work-study students for shifts at Melrose Trading Post
  • Assist with student volunteer groups at the Melrose Trading Post: maintaining event calendar, scheduling orientations, liaising with group sponsors and school administration, coordinating volunteer day schedules, follow-up presentations and final evaluations
  • Assist with general office management: answering department phones; coordinating program calendars, schedules and logistics
  • Build and maintain professional, sustainable lines of communication among students, parents, teachers, school administration and Greenway staff
  • Facilitate and organize professional development sessions for Melrose Trading Post work-study students
  • Pursue and contribute to applications for funding opportunities for the program
  • Collaborate across Greenway departments for ever-evolving program development efforts

The right candidate will:

  • Have experience with and a commitment to educational environments, particularly those specializing in arts-based programming
  • Possess great organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Have a great sense of humor and be able to positively engage different personalities
  • Be Internet-savvy with proficiency in MS Office
  • Have a valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation
  • Pass a LiveScan background check
  • Be able to lift 30 lbs. and be on your feet for several hours at a time

Bonus Points:

  • Working knowledge of both Mac and PC platforms
  • Being bilingual in Spanish
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 per hour
