Responsibilities

Job Summary

This role is responsible for providing daily technical oversight and leadership of the Powerplant Engineering team and will support the internal and external maintenance and operational activities as they relate to our fleet of engines.  In addition to the aircraft engines, this position will have the same oversight and responsibilities with the 191-9a & APS3200 APU product lines that support our fleet of A319/A320 and A321 aircraft.  Ensure engineering documents have proper technical justification, effectivity, and applicability. Drive technological innovation and develop fleet-wide reliability programs that will improve the operational readiness and overall safety of our powerplant platforms. Keep abreast of innovative technologies and industry technical developments and advancements and will provide fleet improvement recommendations for our engine, APU, and component programs to drive the highest level of component safety, compliance, and reliability. Manage and control the required engine and APU component / system hardware and software configurations.

  • Collaborates with the platform team in generating engine & APU removal schedules to optimize time on wing and cyclic life of LLP’s.
  • Monitors engine and APU AD compliance.
  • Issues work scopes to address APU and Engine associated repairs and alterations.
  • Serves as a focal point for vendors on technical issues relating to APUs and Engines, and establishment of procedures for coordinating & resolving technical issues with our maintenance partners. Control engine and APU configuration and build standards.
  • Reviews APU and Engine Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, All Operator Wires, and technical documents recommending pertinent actions for our fleet.
  • Conducts fleet surveys and other data collecting efforts in the APU & Powerplant arena.
  • Oversees build specifications, and part number interchangeability information in area of APU and Powerplants & Engines.
  • Evaluates engine test runs and provide detailed calculations and reports consistent with Company standards.
  • Assists in APU and Powerplant troubleshooting efforts as required and evaluate fleet Engine Trend Reports as required to support Company lease return and acceptance obligations.
  • Monitors engine component reliability and implement a plan to improve engine component reliability.
  • Supports 24/7 operation.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments)


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
  • 5-7 years' experience in Aircraft engine and/or aircraft systems engineering experience.
  • Pratt & Whitney engine experience highly desirable, and Airbus fleet experience desirable.

Estimated Travel:

  • Domestic & International travel under 10% of time.

Physical Effort:

  • Exert up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those of Sedentary work. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

Telework Capacity:

  • Hybrid - required presence in South Florida headquarters at least 3 times per week.
  • If not currently residing in South Florida, successful candidate will be required to fully relocate within 3 months of start date.
