The Process Engineer is responsible for optimizing products and processes by establishing process capabilities, required controls, and ensuring adherence to standards through continuous verification.

This role is the technical subject matter expert for the softgel dosage format at the facility and will provide guidance in the areas of gel manufacturing, compounding, encapsulation, drying and inspection.

In this role, you will be responsible for the product portfolio qualified at the site and will work to improve reliability, quality, and cost. The primary goal for this position will be to implement specifications and appropriate process guard rails to ensure we deliver a reliable and repeatable process to Operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverages data and an analytical mindset to draw insights on our products.

  • Develops and executes qualification and change management activities across the manufacturing network.

  • Designs and executes experiments in both a laboratory and manufacturing setting.

  • Develop a fundamental understanding of engineering principles and their applications across our product portfolio.

  • Participate in focused improvement activities.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an engineer who has experience working in manufacturing facilities while also establishing process capabilities and controls to ensure a reliable and repeatable process. You will be successful in this role if you possess a continuous learning mindset, collaborative mentality, take pride in the portfolio of products you own, and take a bias to continually improve existing processes within nutraceutical manufacturing.

  • A strong statistical understanding to establish appropriate specifications and process guard rails to ensure a reliable/repeatable process.

  • Leadership qualities to implement and champion change for assigned projects.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional groups to solve problems and influence internal and external groups.

Capabilities & Skills Required

In order to take on these challenges, you’ll need to have:

  • 4-year college or university degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Science, or another related science field.

  • Demonstrated expertise in defining process capabilities and control plans to prevent process drifts and leveraging that foundation for future optimization.

  • Fundamental principles of unit operations pertaining to chemical process operations, manufacturing/packaging equipment, and processing/testing laboratory techniques.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams in developing problem statements, identifying root causes, measuring results, implementing short and long-term solutions, and taking learnings and leveraging across the network.

  • A firm foundation in chemistry, mathematics, pharmaceutics and/or food science.

  • Solid foundation in oral and written communication skills.

  • Results oriented and able to effectively organize and develop plans; prioritize and execute actions.

  • The ability to make presentations and recommendations in assigned area.
