Job Summary
The Associate Project Engineer manages engineering projects from conception, design, procurement, installation, and follow-up. They will oversee the maintenance of mechanical plant utilities.

Compensation
Responsibilities
- Assists in preparing and implementingthe capital budget including justifications, conceptual design, estimating, scope, etc.
- Helps Plant Engineer with CAR submittal to the CAPEX portals
- Use CAD software (AUTOCAD, SOLIDWORKS) to develop designs and implement feedback from management
- Manages assigned projects including concept design, sketches or draws layouts and general arrangements; Supervises and checks detailing, researches and specifies equipment and components, writes specifications/contracts/requisitions, solicits bids, and makes recommendations to Purchasing
- Supervises and coordinates installation and/or start-up; Instructs personnel on operation and maintenance of new equipment, setting up files and spare parts, and controlling budgeted expenditures; rotational shifts might be required during project installation and/or startups
- Supports local plant in technical matters as assigned, including equipment troubleshooting, critical path scheduling, material selections, strength, mathematical calculations, etc.
- Maintains plant water and gas utility
- Writes technical reports as required
- Maintains records and assists with presentations
- Performs any special assignments or duties as directed
- Interprets regulations as needed, including OSHA, MSHA, UPC, UBC, NFPA, NEC, and others
- Inspects inventory and reordering materials and technical components
- Analyzes operations and offers suggestions for improvement
Education
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or similar field is required
Requirements/Qualifications
- A valid driver's license
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong customer service skills and time management
- Ability to quickly assess engineering problems and research/offer solutions
- General Microsoft Office software skills
- AutoCAD experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
Preferred:
- One to three years of experience in heavy industrial engineering or a manufacturing setting
- Knowledge of safety, environmental, and building regulations; knowledge of construction materials processes, equipment, and application
- Familiarity with the SAP operating system
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
