Overview

Summary

The Safety Data Analyst is responsible for the development of data visualizations, process automation, process optimization, and continuous improvement of key data outputs used for building the foundation of safety intelligence and statistics. Additionally, this role will collect, analyze, and produce work products that provide insights for leadership. The Analyst is a multi-functional and multi-discipline role that leverages an in-depth understanding of data analytics to improve the quality of Allegiant’s safety, security, compliance, and quality assurance programs.

Years of Experience:  

•Minimum two (2) years of safety analytics experience.

OR

•Minimum five (5) years of aviation safety experience. 

•Highly observant, strong curiosity, attention to detail, and self-motivated.

•Excellent work ethic and organizational skill, ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment, and a positive attitude toward teamwork.

Preferred Requirements

•Proficiency with Business Intelligence technologies (Tableau or Power BI) to aggregate data and build relevant depictions of key information.

•Technical experience in sourcing, extracting, validating, exploring, and transforming data with tools, such as SQL Server Management Studio or Amazon Athena.

•Knowledge and experience with the principles of Safety Management System and associated processes.

•Proficiency with SMS database.

•Knowledge and experience with FAA, TSA, or OSHA regulatory processes.

•Operational experience in Flight Operations, Dispatch, Station Operations, Maintenance, or Inflight.

•Proficiency with applying analytical processes to break down and gain insights from operational safety and security data.

Job Duties

•Collaborates with Safety & Security teams to understand their needs in process and data design, standardization, and extraction.

•Leads organizational and operational safety data analysis projects and initiatives.

•Assesses the reliability and validity of all data sources being used by the Safety Analytics team, and the organization, and assists in developing high quality insights using these data sources.

•Liaises with Safety & Security, Data Engineering, and Business Intelligence teams for solutions development, system maintenance, and bug fixes/troubleshooting.

•Acts independently as a Safety Analytics team subject matter expert.

•Enhances and improves existing Safety & Security reports/processes and analytical applications.

•Provides input to assist in harmonizing Safety and Security Department processes, allowing data from different programs to be cross-pollinated.

•Meets with safety data stakeholders to intake project and data requests.

•Attends meetings with safety analytics stakeholders to maintain team presence and offer support.

•Troubleshoots and pursues solutions on technical issues as part of tool and application development and maintenance.

•Performs periodic and ad hoc data quality monitoring and verification to ensure availability of high-quality data.

•Monitors the availability (uptime or most up to date data) of Safety Analytics team’s solutions and applications.

•Validates data integrity for reporting, dashboards, and analysis of any number of safety related topics such as ASAP, fatigue, internal employee reports, and partner safety metrics as assigned.

•Applies analytical and technical skills to provide detailed analysis and reports that identify performance trends in quality, compliance and safety metrics.

•Analyzes large datasets to identify safety hazard, root cause(s) and observations for potential recommendation of effective corrective actions.

•Develops and administers complex queries, dashboard, automation tools that support efficient data collection, data gathering and analysis of the Safety & Security data outputs.

•Compiles and publishes various reports to illustrate hazards and trends.

•Adapts to new Safety & Security software suites and assist with transition efforts as required.

•Mentors other Safety Analytics Team Members.

•Models Allegiant’s customer service standards in personal actions and when providing direction.

•Other duties as assigned.

Office - While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, key board, printer, and phone. May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour situation. Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
