Senior Financial Analyst, AMZL Fleet Finance

Amazon is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to help own critical functions within the rapidly growing Last Mile org within operations.

 

This Senior Financial Analyst will partner with Global Fleet & Products team to build a fleet that scales with the network, provides flexible capacity as needed, supports current and future driver models, and consistently improves products and services that increase utilization and reduces the burden of managing vehicles. This role is more than finance: it requires ability to invent, go beyond the standard business rules to “experiment” and “conceive” together with the business partners to find financial sustainable solutions.

As a member of a growing team, you will deal with a high level of ambiguity and changing priorities. The successful candidate will maneuver through the ambiguity, and communicate effectively across teams and levels, while balancing the needs and requirements of internal and external customers. Flexibility and the ability to prioritize in a changing business environment will also be key.

  • Create effective business partnerships, manage competing priorities, and provide data driven financial guidance to the business partners.
  • Design, build and manage financial models for long-term business forecasting, variance analysis, and audits control; create dashboards to visualize key metrics
  • Build complex financial models (NPV) for large scale fleet acquisitions/pilot programs (e.g. buy vs. lease vehicle)
  • Liaise across the fleet finance community to support core financial processes including annual operating plans, weekly/monthly/quarterly business reviews and assessment of risks/opportunities, and month-end close
  • Lead cross-functional projects, and have strong communication skills to share financial metrics, business drivers, and help set strategy for GFP

 

  • Establish a financial framework with ambiguous project inputs and requirements across a diverse set of partner teams; drive cost improvements to the requirements gathering process.
  • Collaborate with teams to simplify, standardize, and eventually automate reporting processes and analytics
  • Structure problems, perform analysis and present to your business partners
  • Provide analytical support for financial reviews, synthesize key business drivers, and communicate them to senior management
  • Partner with internal teams to continuously drive financial controllership and improve forecasting accuracy
  • Invent and automate detailed reporting to monitor the business and financial health of partner programs

FP&A

  • You use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models and analyses with little guidance and draw conclusions and make recommendations that deliver results, and drive improvements.
  • You manage development of weekly and monthly financial reviews, forecasting, and reporting models and their continuous innovation and communicating to Financial and Operations partners.
  • You identify and solve complex data integrity issues and collaborate with stakeholders on resolution, insisting on the highest standards.
  • You create effective business partnership, manage competing priorities, and provide guidance during unexpected events.

 

Business Analysis

  • You identify and implement opportunities to resolve finance issues, improve, scale, or simplify finance tools, technology, and processes across teams and organizations.
  • You understand how data flows through our financial platforms and know the right data to use for analysis, and establish a source of truth.
  • You simplify and centralize process improvement and reporting to allow business partners and customers to take action quickly.

 

People

  • You take part in hiring and developing activities and mentor new team members.
  • You have backbone and challenge business partner plans and assumptions when needed.
  • You communicate data in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner both verbally and in writing.
  • You can articulate complex finance issues to non-Finance partners.
  • You positively contribute to work/life harmony on your team and find creative solutions to solve gaps for your team.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
  • 3+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Experience with cube engine tools (e.g. TM1, Cognos or Essbase), SQL and Data warehouse
  • 5+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
