The Operations Manager DC2 (Distribution Center 2) role is a frontline supervisory role that will lead and run the day-to-day warehouse/distribution center operations. Responsibilities are, but are not limited to inbound receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, put away/replenishment, pricing, and housekeeping/sanitation.

 

You will lead frontline Teamster Union hourly Cast Members (employees) through coaching, mentoring, motivating, empowering, removing obstacles, and holding the Cast accountable to overall job performance and Company policies and procedures. Make productive, proactive, and positive contributions to safety, 5S standards, customer service, and performance.

 

What You Will Do

Proactively drive Cast safety through on-the-job training, workplace observations, and Safety Walks, adherence to 5S principles, root cause investigation, and corrective actions.

Monitor and achieve daily service level commitments by anticipating staffing needs and scheduling requirements.

Supervise daily workflow and rates, and react accordingly.
Ensure compliance with operating guidelines, safety regulations, and the Union contract

Lead the annual operating plan for the work area; develop variance explanations
Engage with Cast Members to solicit their ideas and concerns; follow up on open items promptly

Identify ways to improve the business and lead the change management of deployment and benefits realization

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

Minimum 3 years of management/leadership experience in a logistics, warehousing, supply chain or related field
Flexibility with work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Solid understanding and ability to operate proficiently within Microsoft Office and logistics technology systems

Demonstrate coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills
Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills
Demonstrate computer proficiency that includes Windows and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Demonstrate problem-solving skills, as well as continuous improvement process skills

Demonstrate ability to manage conflict/resolution
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to be flexible with work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Excellent verbal, written, facilitation, and presentation skills
Proven ability to handle conflict effectively
Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess operational opportunities and provide actionable, outcome-based solutions
Budget and scheduling management experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated strong business planning skills
Proven experience and a strong understanding of a warehouse control system (WCS)
Bi-lingual (Spanish a plus)
Demonstrated experience in leading in a union environment (Teamsters a plus)
Strong customer service orientation
Demonstrated project management skills and ability
Demonstrated understanding of 5S and KAIZEN principles
Proven experience and a strong understanding of a warehouse management system (WMS) – Automation and RF experience a plus; WCS (Warehouse Control System) a plus

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics or related field
