This position contributes to Starbucks success by providing in-depth knowledge and broad experience in government jurisdictional business and tax licenses, permits and registration compliance for Starbucks North American stores and facilities. This position provides timely and accurate advice and answers to the team and other Starbucks partners for all aspects of licensing regulations and Starbucks cross-functional operational procedures impacting license requirements. It ensures that new stores or facilities follow license requirements, performs research on new license requirements, business changes, or complex issues, and provides guidance to team members or other Starbucks partners in the effective administration of licenses. Manages license fee and tax expenses up to $2 million annually.

 

As a senior license advisor, you will…

  • Manage a portfolio primarily of new or specialized business and tax licenses and permits by accurately identifying, analyzing, and completing new applications and payments to government jurisdictional authorities. Ensures compliance with requirements so that stores and facilities operate without closure or sanctions.
  • Prepares registrations for new stores or new jurisdictional areas and provides guidance to other team members for registering new stores and resolving issues.
  • Researches and interprets new or complex jurisdictional requirements, determines and takes appropriate actions to ensure each location’s compliance with prescribed regulations, and accurately maintains requirement information in the license administration database.
  • Takes a leadership role for ensuring collaboration across license function and with other teams on business or license changes, impacts, and continuous improvements. Assists with training and supervision of less experienced team members and facilitates cross-training amongst the team.

 

We’d Love To Hear From People With

  • Government license regulatory research, interpretation, and application to business activities. (5-7 years)
  • Experience negotiating, influencing, and collaborating with internal teams and external authorities to establish processes and resolve issues.
  • Experience using ERP or accounting systems required (e.g. Oracle, SAP or other systems)
